Hartpury University: the Graze building, cleaned to open

The challenge

Hartpury University needed its new Graze building finished to an occupancy-ready standard on a fixed handover date, while the main contractor's programme was still closing out around it.

The two-storey dining and teaching block includes a 380-seat dining hall, a full kitchen, teaching classrooms and a double-height glazed atrium, built between the student residences and the learning centre on a live campus.

The building needed a full external and internal builders and sparkle clean without slowing down the finishing trades still working around it.

Our approach

AOG worked alongside the main contractor's site team over several weeks, running high-level and low-level cleans in step with the closing stages of the build rather than waiting for a clear site.

That meant a full builders and sparkle clean of the Graze building's extensive curtain walling and double-height atrium glazing, the dining hall, kitchen, classrooms and washrooms, brought up to the standard needed for the building to open to students and staff.

The result

The Graze building was handed over ready for occupancy on schedule, opening as Hartpury's new dining and teaching hub.

Its 380-seat dining hall and teaching spaces are now in daily use by students and staff, with the finish holding up to a working university campus from day one.
