Cheltenham College: College Lawn boarding house, cleaned to occupancy standard

The challenge

Cheltenham College needed College Lawn, a new 12-bed girls boarding house and a separate House Mistress dwelling, finished to an occupancy-ready standard on a fixed handover date.

The buildings were constructed in traditional masonry on a tight, busy urban site behind the college's original Victorian buildings, with the main contractor's finishing trades still on site.

Both the new boarding house and the House Mistress dwelling needed a full external and internal builders and sparkle clean before boarders could move in.

Our approach

AOG worked alongside the main contractor's site team over several weeks, running high-level and low-level cleans in step with the closing stages of the build.

That meant a full internal builders and sparkle clean of the new boarding house and House Mistress dwelling, plus the courtyards, paving and external glazing linking the new build to the original college buildings, delivered on a constrained site with other trades still finishing around it.

The result

College Lawn was handed over ready for occupancy on schedule, with the new boarding house and House Mistress dwelling ready for boarders and staff to move in.

The clean held to the same standard throughout, from the boarding rooms to the courtyards linking the new build to Cheltenham College's original buildings.
